The Company LipoSonix, Inc. is an independent, privately-held company that employs a staff of 32 scientists, engineers, and clinicians near Seattle, Washington. The company was founded in 1999 by The Innovation Factory, a life sciences incubator that invests in promising medical technology. Initial financing in 2001 was used to establish a management and technical team to develop and test the technology. Positive results from early investigations led to a $27 million venture capital investment in mid 2004. This funding allowed the company to significantly ramp up product development and clinical activities. A total of nearly $40 million has been invested in the company to date. LipoSonix, Inc. is funded by Accuitive Medical Ventures, The Carlyle Group, Delphi Ventures, Essex Woodlands Health Ventures, Pinnacle Ventures, Three Arch Partners, SV Life Sciences, and Versant Ventures.
